A beloved cat.

During the last couple of weeks I've noticed some people have experienced the loss of a family pet. Some of them have been quite grieved over the loss. So what's the story with animals - do their souls continue after death? Of course they do. Not only do they continue, they, like us, also reincarnate, even though their process of evolution is different to ours. The below cat story is just one example concerning my animal experiences.

This cat was quite a mischievous little bugger. When night time arrived, eviction time arrived, which meant a night out in the cold. This cat would try anything to avoid being unceremoniously evicted. A nightly ritual was always the search through the house to find where she was hiding. We would find her either hiding behind a pillow, in a bag, on top of a cupboard, etc. It was always an interesting endeavor. And she wasn't always easy to find.

One day the partner and I decided to change location. We moved into another house about four kilometers away. On that very night we decided to spend the night in Melbourne, at her parent's house. I advised the partner to keep the cat inside the house for the night in fear that she would wonder off. She was persistent in leaving the cat outside. It was her cat so I left it at that.

When we arrived home the following night, my fears proved correct: the cat was gone. We spent at least a week searching for the cat. We even sat in the other house half the night incase the cat should find its way back, which she was obviously trying to do. One night I saw clairvoyantly that the cat was dead. She was killed by a dog crossing a field heading back into town. I knew exactly what the dog looked like and the general area where she was killed. I spent several days driving around the area in hope that I would see the mutt and teach him a bit of a lesson - like a boot up the rear end. But I never had the privilege to spot him.

Approximately two weeks after the cat had disappeared, and while we were spending some days back at the original house where the cat had lived, and where she was trying to get back to, we were in for a surprise. One morning, while going out the back door, I nearly dripped over this little kitten sitting on the door step, exactly how our cat would sit waiting to come into the house. This kitten looked sad and worn out, dirty, fur all messed up and wet, the exact color and replica of a kitten version to our cat. It looked like it had journeyed for miles and slept in gutters.

We took the poor bugger into the warmth and gave it something to eat and drink and it practically fell over it. It was starving. Once the kitten had eaten and recuperated we decided to take her with us as we went knocking on peoples doors in an attempt to find its owners. It turned out that nobody knew the cat and who it might belong to. Some people claimed to have seen the poor little bugger strutting up the foot path, and when called, simply glanced at them and kept walking. They had the impression the cat was on a journey to somewhere and let it be.

Anyway, we adopted the cat and it was ours. We decided then that, through some mysterious means, this was the incarnation of our missing cat. It was a female and we gave her a similar name. If this was not the reincarnation of the other cat - where did such a small kitten suddenly come from? Nobody in the immediate area claimed her, although spotted her strolling up the street, and when lured, ignored them entirely, only to end up on our back door step. The original cat, on her journey home, met her fate, immediately reincarnated into a litter unknown, and continued her journey home.

As the cat grew, we got more and more convinced that, yes, this was the reincarnation of our missing cat. She even adopted the very mischievous habits had by the original. The cat stayed with us for many years.
